NEW JERSEY IS SELLING HORIZON?
YES! New Jersey is considering selling Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield.
Since 1932, Horizon has held a special place in New Jersey - it is New Jersey's
own and only Non-Profit Community Health Plan. It is a plan that belongs to the
public whose mission is to provide healthcare services and other community
benefits for the people of our state WITHOUT PROFIT TO ANYONE. Now that
mission could change. If the conversion is approved, our community health plan
will change to provide profits to shareholders and its executives with much of the
proceeds going to the State.
This is our asset. We have a right to have a say in what happens to our health plan and the proceeds in any sale. But now, New Jersey and Horizon executives are looking to profit from selling our most valuable asset! |
